Riding with Mr. D to Cameron Highland

One on my favorite riding route around KL is Sungai Koyan to Tanah Rata and back via Simpang Pulai. I'll definitely recommend this route to anyone asking for a suggestion and could be altered depending on one’s preferences and multiple transit stops are available should one need to drag the ride longer or make it shorter.

Mr. D has been a biker for a long time but a serious accident that has caused operations for bone reconstruction in several parts of his body put a stop to his riding days. Despite these setbacks and a few promises made to his friend and family, his is still passionate about riding as it is obvious in his eyes every time riding topic pops out in any of our discussions.

My point is really simple, that is riding can be as dangerous as any other outdoor activities but there are more to it than these risks, that can only be felt when you’re actually doing it. I have tried to get him on the bike for more a year but when he saw an ad about rental Harley-Davidson motorcycles, he have finally said yes and we have a ride planned.

He has rented a 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide 1700cc for a day from this company at a very friendly price.

We are set to do Sungai Koyan-Tanah Rata-Simpang Pulai route which will be within 5-8 hours of riding time.

As promised, Mr. Fadzlan of HD Rental Malaysia arrived before 7.30am at Mr. D residence in Damansara and swiftly gone through a quick brief about the bike and the documentation. Note that smile on Mr. D's face : )

We set out from Damansara around 8.00am and head straight to Karak and Bentong

Karak Highway is clear that particular morning

Started to feel the heat on the side exhaust pipes

It is a working day and Bentong and Raub town is bustling with activities

The traffic and weather that morning is lovely and by 10.00am, we have reached Felda Sungai Koyan

Fully loaded trailer carrying logs making way out to Raub

Lovely bends and good weather is available during our ride

“This thing is a tank!” – Mr. D

We reach Tanah Rata around 11.30am and the weather is cold and windy.

Mr. D favorite place to stay in Tanah Rata

Heading down through Simpang Pulai is easier for the Street Glide as it have big sweepers than Tapah with its hair-pin and s-corner

We made a stop in Ulu Bernam for fuel and continue back home.

It is a good ride blessed with good weather all along the ride and the most important thing is Mr. D has already mention about the next ride! Maybe ride n camp next ya..

(Update 13th October 2015) Mr. D has return to Sydney to be with his family & friends. Thank you for the memories and till we meet again..!

Kudos to Mr. D, you have finally did it!
