It has been two years since my last birthday ride with my
wife and when she asked for another ride, both of us are really looking forward
to it. However instead of riding through our favorite route (Sungai Koyan), we have
chosen a new route with a stopover at a famous spot – Teluk kemang beach.
Teluk Kemang beach is a famous public beach, 80km south of
Kuala Lumpur and nicely connected to a network of highway, E29 Seremban Port –
Dickson highway with good inner road FT 5 which runs from Bagan Lalang to
Linggi.
Visiting the spot during a weekday means less visitor than normal and
you’ll have a lot of public rest area (wakaf) at your disposal rather than
having to rent a tent with 2 plastic chairs at RM40. Personally I like the township
of Port Dickson because of its cleanliness and facilities, which are carefully
look after than any other beach township area in Malaysia.
After mending the kids with school and daycare, we took off
from Rawang around 9am and the weather is clear with ambient temperature around
30°C.
The morning traffic has eased off and there are not many vehicles on E2 heading
to the city center as we passed Damansara and Subang Jaya making our way to E6
Elite Highway.
We made our exit at Exit 608 towards KLIA and ride through
Bandar Baru Enstek before making a left turn at Sepang old town.
It has been a
while since I passed this area and the road condition has improved since my
last visit. The lanes are now wider and proper signage are available on this
route.
We ride through Port Dickson town around 10.50am and the
weather are lovely although it was scouring hot on FT5.
We have arrived at
Teluk Kemang beach around 11.15am and settled by a wakaf facing the beach.
There were not that many visitors are on the beach and most of the rental tents
and wakaf are empty.
After spending about 2 hours on the beach we packed and started riding again.
We rode to Seremban town and making our way to Kuala Klawang.
At this time, the weather started changing to cloudy with strong winds.
We
continued riding after a quick lunch at Ampangan and arrived at Kuala Klawang
around 2.30pm and refilled at Shell.
The weather was noticeably colder as we
passed through the forest reserve and ambient temperature was around 24°C.
The road surface was fantastic and there were not many vehicles on the road.
Halfway through the winding road of N32 passing Kampung
Kongkoi, rain started pouring down and I reduced my speed as the ZN33 tires I
am on isn’t great on wet surface.
We rode slowly around Semenyih dam and by the
time we arrived at Hulu Langat town, it was raining heavily.
After a short rest, we continued riding passing now debunked
Menara Tinjau of Ampang heading towards Duke Highway.
There was a little bit of
traffic build up on Jalan Ampang to MRR2 and riding two-up is a challenge. It
is still raining as we rode back to E1 but it stopped when we passed Sungai
Buloh. We arrive home around 5pm and in-time to pick-up kids from school.
