Ride to Cameron Highland through Simpang Pulai & Fraser Hill

This is supposed to be a ride with my spouse but last minute changes made her unable to join and I have no choice but to proceed without her. Noor Azmin Hashim, my brother in-law who have recently acquired a Versys joined me with his wife from Simpang Pulai as they resides in Manjung, Perak.

The route is a very famous route going through Simpang Pulai, Kampung Raja, Brinchang, Tanah Rata and Ringlet before making a turn into Bertam Valley and Raub. From Raub we went north through Fraser Hill, Kuala Kubu Bahru and Tanjung Malim.

It is raining lightly as I departed from Rawang around 8am and the highway is busy with vehicles heading north as today is a start of a long weekend. The weather cleared as I pass Behrang but still cloudy and raining light again as I turned towards Simpang Pulai exit.

We met at Petronas Simpang Pulai at 10.00am and head up towards Kampung Raja.

The rain turned heavy at occasions with moments of cold wind blowing as we get nearer to Blue Valley and it gets very misty just before the right turn.

Traffic is busy but still moving as we passed Kampung Raja

It is still raining and misty when we stopped to pack lunch at Kuala Terla.

We packed our lunch and continued to Gunung Brinchang slowly as the road surface is very slippery and Min’s front tyre has very little thread left to keep his traction.

We stopped for photograph after the left turn at Sungai Palas Tea plantation and the situation during that noon is very cold and windy.

Gust of winds continue to blow occasionally and the riding jacket did it job to provide warmth and dryness.

The ride up is very slow and cautious as the treacherous route is very slippery and Min’s road tyre isn’t made for this condition with a lot of running water and loose rocks on the road.

Water on concrete surface = not ideal for riding

Despite all the hardship we made it safely to the communication tower.

We had lunch under the hut outside the communication tower fence and my hands feel numb from the wet and cold condition.

We went down right after lunch and the condition still hasn’t changed – wet and windy.

We stopped at Kea Farm and I shop for some vegetables and strawberry before continuing our journey down to Tringkap.

At Tringkap we filled our tanks and we met with other bikers going down the same route.

As we rode down, it was raining again

But still have time to pose for a photograph : )

We had a break in Raub for coffee and continue to Kuala Kubu Bahru passing Fraser Hill.

The weather is getting dark as we ascend towards Fraser Hill but changed to clear when we reach Sungai Selangor dam. The recent monsoon season had filled the dam water and hopefully it is enough for another year.

We stopped again for petrol in Petronas Kuala Kubu Bahru before saying goodbye to each other. I reached home around 7.30pm later that day.

This is the opening ride for 2016 and I am looking forward for an interesting riding year!
